It Started With a Springer Spaniel...

Every business has a beginning, and while I have been photographing animals since childhood, it wasn't until my faithful friend, Tucker, entered my life that I really started to love photography. He is so photogenic, and he is always happy and ready to be my test subject when I have a new idea I want to try. While he may not be with me when I visit clients, his shadow is faithfully beside me with every step of the creative process. I see his stubborn side in every dog who would rather run than sit still, and with every dog who listens vigilantly as he so often does. He taught me that beauty is in the blemishes. It is in the little moments we don't anticipate. It is in the bloopers and the random acts of playfulness. It is in the times when they do and don't listen, and when they decide to make the photo shoot go their way. No matter the pet, Tucker has taught me that every animal can make beautiful portraits, action shots, and funny outtakes that last a lifetime. In order to get those shots, you just have to listen to the pet.

“Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.”
